On July 30, 2011 we opened a brand new triathlon series, The Chattahoochee Challenge. Nearly 300 athletes joined the competition and a great time was had by all. On August 20th, we moved on to the next race in the series, “The Olympic”. The course was longer, the challenge greater, but you rose to meet the challenge.
So what’s next? An even greater challenge – this time it’s a half iron distance – 1.2 mile swim, 56 miles on the bike, and a 13.1 mile run. Not for the faint of heart, but designed to allow you to really test your body and your spirit. We’re expecting this to be incredible. Register early, and start training right now. The starting gun fires on April 21, 2012.
If the Half Iron Triathlon is a little more than you’re ready for, don’t despair. We understand, and we’ve got two other races planned. There’s the Sprint, a very popular race with a 500 yard swim, a 12 mile bike, a 3.1 mile run. It’s the fastest growing triathlon in the USA. It’s on June 9, 2012.
When you finish the Sprint you can move up to the Olympic on August 11, 2012, which is 1500m swim, a 25 mile bike, and a 6.2 mile run. We think you’ll love the challenge of a slightly longer race which will take you from the river, to Fort Benning, and then back through Columbus.
You’ll love Columbus – small town charm with big city amenities. Once again, you’ll swim down the river for which the challenge is named, run along the famous “Riverwalk”, and bike through the heart of the city. For friends and family members, the viewpoints are easy to access and the opportunities to sample the cuisine and enjoy the rich history of Columbus are endless.
We can’t wait to meet you all at The Chattahoochee Challenge!
